The
DZIF Pathogen Bank
is located at the Leibniz Institute DSMZ – German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures – in Braunschweig.
It comprises around 2,800 quality-tested strains (bacteria, fungi, and bacteriophages) as well as associated metadata,
DNA samples, and other scientific services that are available to researchers at the DZIF.
The focus is on microbiome strains from the gastrointestinal tract of mice, pigs, chickens, and humans,
as well as on multi-resistant bacterial strains from the WHO priority list and the DZIF transplantation cohort.
Detailed information on the strains is available in the
BacDive | The Bacterial Diversity Metadata Database
.
The collection accepts additional microorganisms free of charge and allows both public and protected deposits.
