The OMICs Database will allow the storage and transfer of NGS-based data (perspectively also proteomics,
metabolomics, etc.), metadata and processed data (e.g. assembled genomes) which were generated as part
of the DZIF to investigate microbes and microbial communities.
In order to meet the current heterogeneous requirements, both technical and from the stakeholders, while at
the same time providing an operational infrastructure, the initial plan is to keep the data available and
searchable via a data steward (jannik.seidel@qbic.uni-tuebingen.de)).
This approach allows a quality control prior to the storage of the data and gives control over who is
able to gain access to the data. Moreover, the data steward can assist with the appropriate storage of
the data and metadata.
