In long-term collaborations with four partner institutions in Africa, DZIF scientists are researching
preventive measures, new diagnostics, therapies and vaccines for
malaria,
tuberculosis,
HIV/AIDS
and neglected tropical diseases such as worm infections. The facilities in Africa include clinics and
research centers in Kumasi (Ghana), Lambaréné (Gabon), Nouna (Burkina Faso) and Mbeya (Tanzania).
Together with the Tübingen and Lambarene sites, malaria studies can be found in the Central
Biospecimen Register (DZIF-ZBR)
as part of the CERMEL project. Since 2021, the data on the studies
has been documentedvia the biobank tool "HEnRY"
and automatically transmitted to the DZIF-ZBR.
